Production
Our production standards follow the Toyota Production System.
Our goal is to maximize added value from the production chain by keeping work in progress stock close to zero and by ensuring quality through each stage of the entire process. The « stop to fix » is a standard applied in all plants and in all systems in order to make problems visible as soon as they occur.
AT & Sub-Assemblies
Although most automatic transmissions (AT) are produced by AISIN AW (AW) in Japan, some are also made by AW Europe (AWE) for delivery to European customer's production plant and local aftermarket. In addition, AWE performs various types of activities on serial production ATs on behalf of its mother company. Since 2013, AWE is capable of mass production software writing prior to final product delivery to the customer. This enables AW to implement the latest software versions quicker.
AW Europe also produces automatic transmission sub-assemblies such as valve bodies, and other mechanical parts for the aftermarket.
AT Control Unit
The automatic transmission control unit (ATCU) is a computer that controls the automatic transmission (AT). AWE has manufactured ATCU's for mass production since 1993 and over the years has gained customer's trust by offering high quality products through a lean manufacturing process.
From a practical perspective, AWE's ATCU activities cover:
 |
• |
Preparation, validation and testing the production process for new products |
• |
Assuring timely production and delivery with the expected quality |
• |
Guaranteeing after market supply |
• |
Continuously improving process and organisation to increase efficiency & quality level |

Remanufacturing
AW Europe has been remanufacturing automatic transmissions (AT) since 1997. The aim has always been to repair damaged products from the field to the same level of quality and behaviour than that of a new product. The three main drivers are:
1. |
Continuously improve customer satisfaction in quality, cost and delivery |
2. |
Diminish the impact on the environment by extending the lifetime of the product |
3. |
Collect defective parts from the field in order to identify the root cause and inform Aisin AW timely for use in product design, process and supplier improvement. |
